Held at the British Legion Club Monday 22nd Feb 2010
Apologies. Barbara Howling and Mavis Ramshaw.
PRESENT- ,Edward Barber ,David Cooper, Paul Giles, John Loveless, John Marston, June Ponting, Edith Reeves and Jean Tuck.
Minutes of last meeting: one minor amendment . Substitute JT for JL relating to the website.
Eddie Barber and Edith Reeves will liaise with Sarah over the application for grant money for the green gym. Sarah was not present for this meeting.
We were hoping to get a grant of £100 from the Woodland Trust for saplings to be planted by the ditch. Unfortunately they have temporarily stopped issuing these grants. We must look out on their web site for future plans - maybe they will give out saplings instead of cash.
We will clarify with Sarah the necessity or otherwise of CRB screening for Poetry Week
David Cooper has set up a website for the Friends: www.thewalks.co.uk Please use it and add whatever you feel is newsworthy.
Members were asked if they would be available for stewarding at the Red Mount this coming season. Most were agreeable but of course we need to have more details on opening times and days etc before we commit ourselves. All of us were concerned about the tree felling taking place in the Walks. We would like to hear from management what plan is being followed.
We learned from John Loveless that a new lease is being made for the new football club. The council will take over responsibility for the car park at the Tennyson road end of the grounds. At the other end the car park will still be leased to the football club with an exception of a 2mtr strip of land between the car park and the ditch. This is so access is available for maintenance.
The next meeting is on Monday 22nd March at the RBLC 18.00hrs. The next meeting after that will be the 26th April, same venue and time.
